Hello, and welcome to the Nowhere Gallery Substack! For those who don’t know, I’m Thomas Hooper, a fine artist and tattooer based in Brighton. I’ve recently opened my new tattoo studio, Nowhere Tattooing, (@nowhere_tattooing) and this newsletter is where I’ll share stories, photos, videos, and updates from the studio, along with some of the art, books, music, and ideas that inspire myself and the residents working here, Harriet Street, Ant Dickinson, Jim Macairt and Micheal Saint Mouse.
A Heartfelt Thank You from Nowhere Tattooing
This past weekend was truly special, and I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to everyone who made it so memorable.
Friday night’s party at the studio was an incredible way to celebrate this new chapter. Seeing friends, family, and so many new faces coming together was deeply moving. A special thank you to Greet, whose music brought such depth and meaning to the evening—your performance gave the night a sense of occasion and set the tone for what this studio is all about.
The celebration continued with Tattoo Flash Days on Saturday and Sunday, and I’m so grateful to everyone who came by to get tattooed. Your support and enthusiasm mean the world to me, and it was amazing to see so many of you leaving with new pieces of art that will now accompany you on your journey.
To the tattooers who worked so hard over the weekend: thank you for your artistry, energy, and professionalism. Your efforts made this event everything I hoped it would be, and I’m so proud to have you as part of the Nowhere Tattooing family.
This studio wouldn’t exist without the incredible people who helped bring it to life. To my friends and family: thank you for all your hard work during the renovations, your encouragement when things were tough, and for believing in this dream. To the residents who now tattoo here: thank you for shaping this space into something we can all be proud of—it already feels like home because of you.
I’m beyond excited for what’s ahead. Nowhere Tattooing is officially open Tuesday to Saturday, 11am–5pm, or by appointment, so if you’re in Brighton, please stop by—whether it’s for a tattoo, to say hello, or just to check out the studio.
